Treasurer

The primary goal of the Treasurer's Office is to provide for the receipt of all funds entering the City and to handle the distribution of such funds where and when necessary for the operation of the City.  The Treasurer’s office is established by City Charter, Chapter III, § 18, where its powers are delineated. 

Other obligations of the Treasurer’s office are as follows:

  • Collect and maintain real and personal property taxes and records
  • Manage water and sewer billing function and records
  • Levy special assessments where provided for by the City Commission
  • Work with other department and other units of government in providing service to our citizenry

The City Treasurer is also responsible for the administration of the employee's retirement system.

Tax Bill information

24 Hour Tax Hotline
Property tax information is now available FREE on the Oakland County 24 Hour Tax Hotline by dialing 248-858-0025 or toll free number 1-888-600-3773. To access tax information you will need to enter your 10-digit parcel ID number (beginning with 25)


Due dates
Summer tax bills are mailed on June 30th and the due date is August 10th, however partial payments are permitted.  For partial payments, at least 50% of the summer tax bill is due by August 10th and the balance is due October 31st.

Winter tax bills are mailed on November 30th and due on February 14th.

Partial Payments

Penalties
Any unpaid summer and/or winter tax amounts not paid by February 28th are turned over to Oakland County and payable to the County, not the City.  A revised tax statement with interest and penalties due to Oakland County after February 28th may be obtained from the City Treasurer's office to be mailed with the payment to the County.

Assessing Information and Property Tax Information

Property Tax Information is available on-line through the "Access Oakland - Property Gateway" where basic information is available for free.  There is a small fee associated with more detailed inquiries such as a delinquent tax report or detailed property profiles.
