Commissioner Michelle Elder
Michelle Elder was appointed to fill a vacancy for Huntington Woods City Commission on January 16, 2019. Her goals as City Commissioner are to serve as a voice for the residents of Huntington Woods, act responsibly and with transparency as a steward of public tax dollars, and to provide leadership to maintain city services and programs for the needs of the community today, while also planning for the city’s future.
Michelle is a government affairs professional with a background in economic development, urban planning, and marketing. Michelle holds degrees in Architecture, Urban & Regional Planning, and Real Estate Development from the University of Michigan. She is a certified Economic Development Finance Professional. In 2016, Michelle was recognized as one of Oakland County’s Elite 40 under 40. She is also a graduate of Leadership Detroit XXXIV.
Michelle's husband, Andy, grew up in Huntington Woods where his family still live. Andy first persuaded her to raise their family here. Upon moving in, Michelle immediately fell in love with this city and she then recruited her parents to move here as well. In her spare time, she enjoys fitness and hiding vegetables in her daughter’s macaroni and cheese.
